New Leaf Community Markets To Accept Pick-Up Services With SNAP Program
A local grocery chain, New Leaf Community Markets is participating in a program that allows participants to have delivery and pick-up services.
Santa Cruz- A local grocery chain announced its participation in a program that makes delivery and pick-up services available to residents in need.
New Leaf Community Markets has started accepting Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) Supplemental Nutrition and Assistance Program (SNAP) payments for same-day delivery and pickup services through Instacart. This development follows recent approval by the United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service, which oversees the federally-funded food program designed to support low-income individuals and families.
This means that local participants in the EBT SNAP Program can use their benefits to arrange same-day delivery or pick-up of groceries from New Leaf’s five locations in Santa Cruz County and Half Moon Bay.
Senior Director of Digital for New Leaf Community Markets Andrew Krysiak said, “We are always looking at how we can expand our offerings to the community and make local, organic products more readily available. Working with Instacart, a fellow Bay Area-based business, to now accept EBT SNAP payment online is a great next step to offering additional options to our customers so we can meet them however and wherever they wish to shop with us.”
The participants of the assistance program can shop from New Leaf via the mobile app or website of Instacart. Once the customers are done with shopping and items are added to the cart, the participants will be able to select how much of their benefits they want to allocate at checkout. Customers will also need a secondary form of payment for non-food items such as taxes, tips, and fees as per the guidelines.
Besides this, customers can schedule the orders in advance. Delivery will be done through Santa Cruz County, Half Moon Bay, and Silver Creek Neighborhood in San Jose.
By entering the ZIP code, the customers will be able to determine if any other participating retailer is near or not. Other participating retailers in the Santa Cruz Area include Safeway, Raley’s, and Costco.
It’s been more than 35 years since New Leaf opened its doors in Santa Cruz. It also has stores in Downtown Santa Cruz, Aptos, Capitola, and the Westside of Santa Cruz. It’s one location is in Half Moon Bay.
