Washington- $95 Million was awarded to 55 communities by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) via the Indian community block grant program (ICDBG). With the help of these funds, HUD strives to develop infrastructure, provide community facilities, housing rehabilitation, economic development, and also to support Native American and Alaskan Native families.
HUD’s Secretary Marcia L. Fudge said, “The Biden-Harris Administration is committed to sharing resources with Tribal communities so they can meet their own unique needs. The funding announced today will help make Tribal communities safer, and healthier, and help families thrive.”
The ICDBG program not only provides housing and development support but also offers funding for various eligible activities in reservations and associated areas. The eligible activities considered by the program include housing rehabilitation, water and sewer facilities, land acquisition, and single or multipurpose buildings.
