Washington- The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has made at least $80,681,000 available for the Community Compass TA Program, which aims to support HUD’s customers in addressing intricate housing and community development issues. This funding will provide HUD customers with the necessary knowledge, skills, tools, and systems to effectively implement agency programs and policies, fostering community empowerment and ensuring sustainable program implementation in the long run.
The applicants who are eligible for the program include:
State and local governments
Public and state-controlled higher education institutions
Public housing authorities
Private higher education institutions
The source of the funding is HUD’s 2-year community Compass technical assistance and capacity building program. The successful applicants will be given awards from HUD’s 2022 and 2023 funds.
Community compass serves as a valuable resource to help HUD’s customers navigate complex housing and community development challenges. Keeping in mind the qualifications and experience, HUD will assign projects depending on the community’s needs. Also, TA providers will be required to work on HUD-identified projects with the help of HUD staff wherever required.
TA providers are required to have a localized or holistic approach to technical assistance and implementing HUD programs. According to HUD, the technical assistance providers should have experience with local community-based organizations, increase local capacity, and support equitable engagement and outcomes.
