HUD To Address Homelessness By Giving $2.8 Billion for continuums of care
HUD grants $2.8 billion in annual funding to support continuums of care, bolstering efforts to address homelessness comprehensively.

Around $2.8 Billion were awarded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for Continuum of Care (CoC) for providing homeless service and housing programs across the country.
The CoC program is the largest source of funding for providing homeless services and housing programs for people experiencing homelessness. HUD awarded the first-of-its-kind package of $315 Million in January to assist communities in addressing unsheltered and rural homelessness.
Out of the total $2.8 billion, $80 million is specifically allocated for the non-competitive renewal and replacement grants under the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program. Additionally, $52 million is designated for new projects aimed at providing housing and support services for survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
The projects by HUD strive to end homelessness, use the housing first approach, improve the system’s performance, partner with housing agencies to provide access to mainstream programs, collaborate with health agencies to provide healthcare services, address racial disparities in homelessness, and increase the supply of affordable housing.
