The LIHEAP program is a federally funded program providing assistance to low-income households to help with the cost of home energy bills. This program primarily provides assistance to heat and cool the homes of those in need. The program is administered by the Department of Health and Human Services and provides grants to states, territories, and tribes to help eligible households pay for energy related expenses. LIHEAP can also assist with bill payment, energy-related crisis assistance, weatherization, and energy-related repairs. The program is designed to help vulnerable populations including: elderly, disabled, and families with young children.
