Federal agencies are set to host a roundtable discussion regarding the availability of special-purpose credit programs.

On September 12, 2023, Four Federal Agencies will host a roundtable discussion regarding the availability of special purpose credit programs (SPCP) to meet the credit needs of eligible individuals. The public can also access the event via live stream.

The remarks at the event will be offered by HUD’s Secretary Marcia L. Fudge, Director of Federal Housing Finance Agency Sandra L. Thompson, Director of Consumer Financial Protection Rohit Chopra, and Controller of the Currency Michael J. Hsu. The roundtable discussion will take place with representatives from the industry trade organizations and community groups emphasizing the opportunities and benefits of SPCPs.

The Special Purpose Credit Programs (SPCPs) are a long-established tool under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA). SPCPs can help creditors to expand credit access to economically disadvantaged consumers and commercial enterprises. The lenders can use SPCPs to address the critical needs of underserved communities with proper planning, development, and Implementation.
