Women Arrested For Illegally Collecting $3000 In Food Stamps

Naugatuck- A local woman in Naugatuck is facing a larceny charge after she illegally collected more than $3000 in food stamps in one year.

The State Division of Criminal Justice revealed that a woman named Elba Galeano Rodriguez, aged 51, of Naugatuck was arrested on Wednesday and charged with first-degree larceny.
The agency revealed that Galeano Rodriguez failed to report the income she earned between November 14, 2022, and October 31, 2023, and improperly received $3131 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program Benefits.

The arrest warrant in the case was filed by the investigative division of the state Department of Social Services and is being prosecuted by the Statewide Prosecution Bureau of the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney, according to officials.

The officials revealed that Galeano Rodriguez was released from custody after being charged on Wednesday. She is scheduled to appear in the state superior court in Waterbury on Thursday.
