Identify and Complain about Housing Discrimination
Housing discrimination refers to the situation when a housing provider gets in the way of a person renting or discriminates against the person because of their:
- Religion
- Race
- Color
- Sex
- National origin
- Family status
- Disability
A housing provider discriminating against people renting could be a landlord or a real estate management company. In addition to this, it can also be a lending institution such as a bank or other organization assisting in the home buying process.
The Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination because of sex including gender identity and sexual orientation. Should you believe you were discriminated against due to the above, your complaint will be investigated.
