How to Apply for Public Housing?
To apply for any of the public housing programs, contact your local PHA.
A written application can be obtained from your local PHA and they can assist you with completion. In addition to the application, the below will need to be provided to assist in determining eligibility.
- Names, sexes, and DOBs of all the people who are intending to live in the unit and the relationship of each person to the applicant (Birth Certificates to verify)
- Current phone number and address
- The condition that can favor the family for getting their application approved more quickly, such as:
- Current residency in substandard housing
- Veteran status
- Names, contact numbers & addresses of families previous landlords to ensure family’s suitability as a tenant
- Approximation of family’s income in the coming one year & specification of the source of the income
- Details on previous and current employers, banks, and any assets to verify your income including tax returns
