Housing Choice Voucher Program (Formerly Section 8)

Those interested in applying for a Housing Choice Voucher need take the below steps:

Contact your local Public Housing Authority or HUD Field or Regional office.
Complete the paper application fully, incomplete applications will not be considered.
The Public Housing Agency representative will reach out to you to verify all information provided on application including: family size, income and assets etc.
If all criteria is met and application is approved you will be placed on the wait list unless a voucher is immediately available.
Once available you will be contacted by the Public Housing Authority and move forward with choosing a property to reside in. There are times where you could remain in your current housing unit if the landlord is willing to participate in the program.
