Public Housing
What is Public Housing?
The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) provides state-owned affordable rental properties for those in need. Public housing may consist of single family homes or apartments in high-rise buildings. Needy populations such as low income families, seniors, or those with disabilities can qualify for housing assistance.
Unfortunately, their are more families and individuals in need than can be accommodated by this program. Often times those in need are added to long waiting lists for eligible affordable rental properties. At times, the Public Housing Authority may close the wait list as they can not assist these families or individuals in the near future.
