Housing Resources for Native Americans
Native Americans seeking housing help should contact the following offices:
- Office of Public and Indian Housing (PIH) to live on private land.
- A local tribally designated housing entity (TDHE) to live on a reservation.

Native American Housing Programs
Indian Housing’s Office of Native American Programs (ONAP)– It ensures safe, decent, and affordable housing for Native American Families by offering housing and community development programs.
Indian Housing Grant programs- This program is meant to provide financial assistance for Indian Tribes so that they can develop affordable housing and other housing activities on reservations or Indian areas.
Housing Improvement Program (HIP)– The Housing Improvement program provides home repairs, replacements, renovations, and new housing grants.
Tribal Green Building– The Federal, State, or Tribal agencies fund resources for Tribal Green Building.
