The Department of Housing and Urban Development is on its mission to provide decent and affordable housing to Americans with low-income. Within the United States there are 10 different geographical regions that HUD has been divided into. Depending on where your state is located you would be zoned to one of these Regional Offices. Subsidized Apartments
HUD helps apartment owners offer reduced rents to low-income tenants. To apply, contact or visit the management office of each apartment building that interests you.

To apply for either type of help, visit your local Public Housing Agency (PHA).

Some PHAs have long waiting lists, so you may want to apply at more than one PHA. Your PHA can also give you a list of locations at which your voucher can be used.

Region III Interagency Council on Homelessness The purpose of the Regional III Interagency Council on Homelessness (ICH) is to mirror the work of the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness in Washington, DC (USICH) by coordinating the regional federal agencies’ response to homelessness. The federal agencies and State and local partners are able to increase collaboration through this council to prevent and end homelessness.
