Staten Island, NY- HUD Regional Administrator Alicka Ampry-Samuel held a meeting with NY Congress Member Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) to discuss HUD-assisted housing in Staten Island, New York. The meeting took place in Rep. Malliotakis’ Staten Island office and was attended by several key figures, including NY State Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton, NY City Councilwoman Kamillah Hanks, and Fitim Shabani, Chief of Staff to NY State Assemblyman Charles Fall.

The main topic of the discussion was the housing needs of Rep. Malliotakis’ District. One common goal of Staten Island is to preserve and improve existing affordable housing and ensure residents are staying in the homes they deserve.

Besides this, valuable input was provided by HUD Multifamily Asset Management Director Dean Santa highlighting a resident hotline to report problems. Dean also did a discussion on NSPIRE and HUD’s new and efficient inspection process. The elected officials seemed to have a better understanding of HUD’s work.

HUD’s Regional Administrator Ampry Samuel has visited HUD-assisted housing multiple times and announced $2.25 Million to Park Hills and St. George Developments via HUD’s Green and Resilient Retrofit Program (GRRP). GRRP will help developers make energy-efficient improvements to HUD-assisted dwellings.

Along with the HUD New York Field Office Director Adam Glantz, there were program analysts also such as Bianca Nelson and Anna Louise Chung.
